Well well well...this little guy sure has got some tricks up his sleeve!
After the doctors were done doing their "rounds" this morning, Anthony and I went back into the room with Kaiden. His nurse had asked if we had a car seat and if we could bring it tomorrow so they can do the car seat test on Kaiden ( he has to sit in it for a certain amount of time). I knew right away what that meant, that coming home is just around the corner! His nurse told us that the Doctors have been so pleased with Kaiden's progress that he may be coming home this friday or monday! Can you believe it?! Anthony and i were in such shock! Of course we are SO ready to have our little boy home, but we didnt think it would be this soon...considering we talked with one of the dr's yesterday and she had mentioned how well he was doing but not to expect him home anytime soon. So to hear this from the nurse today was very unexpected.
We still have not heard anything about the MRI yet, but they should be getting with us some time today to discuss that. Of course that shouldnt have anything to do with him going home. Anthony and I have a few things to do before we bring little man home...but for now, we're going back in to visit with him. I will update when i hear anything new. Thank you to all for the prayers and thoughts through all of this. We continue to pray for Kaiden's full recovery and coming home soon!

Hello everyone!!
Kaiden has been doing so wonderful! As of yesterday evening(Monday), Kaiden has been feeding from a bottle and doing great! He's eating the amount that they would like and he's having no problem keeping it down. They even decided he was doing well enough to take the feeding tube out this afternoon. So no more yellow tube in his nose!! They also dropped his oxygen from 1 to 1/2 and were talking about just taking it off for a little while to see how he would do, but his numbers were just a little bit low so they put it back on...which is fine, if he needs it then he needs it theres no rush :) Kaiden is now taking all of his meds by mouth, those include a small dose of a med to help his heart a little bit, a med to help him go pee, and a med to help settle his stomach since he's actually bottle feeding now. Other then that, little man is all on his own! there has not been any talk of him going home yet, but Anthony and I are not too concerned with that. We just want to make sure he is fully ready when the time comes. He goes tomorrow morning to have an MRI done of his brain. I had one done when i was still pregnant with him because at one ultra sound the dr had noticed some fluid on the brain. The MRI then showed a few spots of damage. But of course the dr's couldnt tell us what extend the damage was, but so far they dont seem to see any concern they would just like to follow up and make sure no further damage was done since that time. I will most likely update from the hospital once we hear anything from that. Ive also posted several new pics of Kaiden, theyre actually taken from Anthony's phone. My camera got dropped and its now broken...BLAH! But Ant's phone has done a great job taking very cute pics...ENJOY! :)

No more feeding tube!! Yey!!
Mommy's handsome little man :)Anthony & I are up here with Kaiden. He looks so good today. We are able to hold him again, and he's much more alert. The nurse had even mentioned possibly trying to bottle feed sometime today. Just a little to start out. He does a great job sucking on his binky, so we'll see if he gets the whole suck, swallow, breath thing. :) Kaiden has a St Patricks Day hat that we're going to put on him and try and take a few pictures. Hopefully he'll tolerate it and ill be able to put some recent pics up tonight. I wanted to thank everyone again for all of their support through all of this, we could not have done it without you! Well we'd better get back to out little love, hopefully ill have some pics later! :)

Lisa - Thank you so much for the prayers from you and Connor, I'm definately going to miss that little guy! We'll have to get together sometime so Connor can meet Ms Coles baby who he's been praying for :)
I apologize for not updating the fast few days. There hadn't been much to update about since this is pretty much 'recovery time'. Kaiden has sort of been out of it since he had the surgery because of the pain meds they have him on, but i'd rather him out of it, then in pain. Yesterday morning they were able to take the breathing tube out, so he's been breathing on his own since then & doing well. Today they were able to take out a few things that were put in him after the surgery. One was a drainage tube to drain the extra fluid, and also a wire which was attached to his heart that was there in case they needed to 'pase' his heart if something had went wrong. He seems to be doing great with those things taken out today. He's on the feeding tube and his feeds are being increased very gradually. Hopefully he'll be able to bottle feed soon! We havent taken pictures the past few days because he's been needing his rest, and the flash from the camera disturbs him. But as soon as he starts waking up again we will definately take more. Anthony & I were finally treated to out first home cooked meal tonight, since i was admitted into the hospital the night Kaiden was born. Thank you Mom, dinner was delicious!! :) I have been feeling much better!! I went through a tough few nights where i would feel extremely nauseous and end up getting sick, and was hardly eating. Im happy to be feeling better and have my appetite & energy back again! Alrighty, well i think its time for some 'anthony & nikki time' aka relax & watch tv time! :) And everyone at TLK, I'LL SEE YOU TOMORROW..I MISS YOU ALL!!
